TikTok has recently opened its first Australian office with Lee Hunter, a former Google executive, as TikTok Australia general manager.
Joining Lee Hunter is former Google executive Brett Armstrong, who will serve as TikTok Australia's general manager of Global Commercialization Solutions (GBS).
Lee Hunter has more than a decade of experience at Google, where he was Global Head of Brand for YouTube and CEO of an Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) listed technology company.
He will lead a team of TikTok experts based in Sydney, focusing on overseeing the implementation of security policies and resources, as well as actively driving business development and expanding partnerships to enhance the local product experience.
Armstrong previously served as regional manager for Google New Zealand and as head of media agency AUNZ.
He will be responsible for TikTok's commercial business with a focus on brand partnerships, client solutions, corporate marketing and sales operations.
Over the past 18 months, TikTok has been expanding its global presence, recruiting general managers in the US, UK, India, Japan and Canada.
On June 1, Kevin Mayer, a former Disney executive, was named ByteDance COO and TikTok's global CEO.
In the first five months of 2020 alone, TikTok has brought on board six executives from internet giants like Facebook and Google.
