It has recently been reported that Chinese OLED supplier BOE's screens have failed inspections by several manufacturers and may not be available for use in the upcoming iPhone 12. However, Laoyaoba quoted a supply chain source as saying that the report was false.
The source said that screen availability for the iPhone 12 is still being verified and that Apple still plans to use China-made screens this year. Meanwhile, BOE is also expected to participate next year's new project.
The source also said that Apple's certification is extremely difficult, and it usually takes more than 2 years to pass the certification, LG even took 3 years.
He said BOE's certification is expected to be completed in more than a year, which means that the strength of China's panel industry can no longer be underestimated.
In recent years, Apple has begun to import panel suppliers other than Samsung in order to ensure the diversity of its supply chain.
In 2018, LG Display will thus be able to successfully enter Apple's supply chain.
According to previous reports, Apple intends to purchase 45 million OLED panels from BOE this year, and BOE will thus become Apple's second panel supplier.
