Microsoft plans to add support for the trackpad and mouse to its Word, Excel, and PowerPoint apps for the iPad by fall, according to TechCrunch.
Apple introduced support for the trackpad and mouse in iPadOS 13.4, and Apple and Logitech have specifically introduced keyboard cases with trackpads.
When using the trackpad, the cursor appears as a circle on the screen and only pops up when the user places their finger on the trackpad.
When you hover the mouse over an app icon, text field, or other on-screen elements, the circle deforms into various other shapes.
Microsoft released the Unified Office app earlier this year, and the new Office app brings together Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other applications into one app.
But Microsoft still plans to keep the single Word, Excel and PowerPoint apps on iOS, and will likely offer support for cursors in both the main Office app and in these separate versions.
