OPPO has released a 30-second video on Weibo, showing a foldable phone being charged with long-range wireless charging technology.

Chinese smartphone maker OPPO will unveil new interactive charging technology at MWC Shanghai on February 23 and will likely showcase new technologies such as the recently buzzed-about charging technology over space.

The OPPO University, which is open to both internal employees and eco-partners, aims to develop a talent pool to fuel OPPO's globalization strategy, it said.

"It's a fact that OPPO's business is weak and the cost of offline stores is big, so closing the store is a sure way to go."

Renderings of OPPO SmartTag were recently revealed, which could serve a similar purpose as the Samsung Galaxy SmartTag, and it could possibly be released together with the OPPO Find X3 series launch this March.

The research direction of the lab involves sensor imaging applications, screen color compensation, color psychology, visual health and comfort display, and other color-related topics.

OPPO said the R&D center will take on the R&D of cell phone products and research in key areas, and will develop into a comprehensive product R&D center in the future.

The R&D departments of Chinese smartphone makers OnePlus and OPPO have merged, with offers for new employees in R&D positions being made by OPPO rather than OnePlus.
