Huawei's HarmonyOS developer beta is expected to be available on December 18 and will allow some mobile phone users to upgrade HarmonyOS in January or February next year, Weibo digital blogger @长安数码君 said.

According to Wang Chenglu, president of Huawei's consumer business software division, HarmonyOS 2.0 is currently making good progress and development is ready to go, with the release expected to take place in December as scheduled.

Since EMUI 11, the relationship between the custom Android skin and HarmonyOS has become closer and closer, for example, in distributed technology EMUI uses the framework of HarmonyOS, said Wang Chenglu, president of Huawei's Consumer BG Software Division, on October 28.

The devices with Kirin 9000 chipset will be the first batch to be compatible with HarmonyOS and those with Kirin 990 5G chip will be the second batch, according to famous Weibo digital blogger.

Chinese ride-hailing giant Didi Chuxing has added support for Huawei's HarmonyOS 2.0 and the Didi app is supported in the watch with HarmonyOS, according to a Weibo blogger. 

Baidu Maps has provided support for the Huawei HarmonyOS 2.0, allowing navigation information to flow seamlessly from the phone to the watch.

Huawei HiSilicon and partners have created the HiSpark series of development kits, including hardware development boards, SDK packages, reference engineering, documentation.

The Watch GT2 Pro, which has just been released overseas, is the first smartwatch powered by HarmonyOS and will soon be released in China, said Wei Zhang, president of Huawei's smart wear and sports health product line.
