Tencent recently announced that it is working with industry chain partners to advance the development of the P2861 international standard for mobile game performance optimization.
Tencent led the establishment of the IEEE Mobile Gaming Standard Working Group, and also started the preparation of the P2861 standard.
In the kick-off meeting, Chen Dong, general manager of Tencent Game Technology Operation Department, said Tencent will work more closely with industry chain partners to jointly promote the development of the P2861 standard and landing.
Rick Li, Head of Photon Internationalization of Tencent Games, said that Tencent games in the internationalization process, encountered a huge challenge of software and hardware standards are not uniform, Tencent looks forward to working with partners through the promotion and development of standards, can solve the relevant industry problems.
P2861 "Standard for Mobile Gaming Performance Evaluation and Optimization", the first standard of IEEE Mobile Gaming Working Group, is the first international technical standard for mobile games.
According to the experts, the establishment of P2861 is of great significance, which opens a new chapter of software and hardware collaboration for terminal performance optimization and builds a bridge of technical collaboration for mobile game developers and intelligent terminal device software and hardware developers.
The meeting adopted the working group charter, reviewed the standard outline, and elected Wang Zitao from Huawei as the vice chairman of the mobile game working group and Xie Yili from Transsion as the secretary-general and technical editor of the working group.
The participants of the standard development included Chinese smartphone manufacturers including Black Sharp, Huawei, Lenovo, Phantom, Nubia, OPPO, Samsung, Transsion, Vivo, Xiaomi, and 16 upstream and downstream manufacturers including MTK, Happy-elements Inc, Xishanju, and Shengqu Games.
According to Yuan Yu, chairman of IEEE Consumer Technology Association Standards Council, the scope of IEEE Mobile Gaming Standards Working Group is very broad, and all the standards related to mobile games will be developed later.
The P2861 standard launched this time mainly discusses the evaluation and tuning of the performance of mobile games, and the gradual development of standards for compatibility with other software and hardware.
Hong Kai, Director of Technical Operations and Head of MTGPA at Tencent Games, said Tencent has been focusing on optimizing the technology of gaming handset terminals since 2017. The aim is to make gaming smoother for more gamers across a range of price points and brands, as well as to make Pushing standards internationally.

At the same time mobile phone manufacturers will want to use the standard to promote their new technology, everyone has their own ideas, the standard cannot be advanced.
