Jack Ma, the founder of Alibaba, recently said that if he were to start up again, he would not choose the Internet, but would enter a traditional industry.
Ma made the comments after listening to Hupan University students defend their theses on September 5.
The themes chosen by the more than 30 entrepreneurs that day all pointed in the same direction: traditional industries have a better chance of benefiting from technology, the digital transformation has just begun, and every industry of the future will become a modern, technology-driven industry.
Jack Ma said that digital technology has just begun, which is the opportunity of our time, and that in the next ten or twenty years, full-scale technology and full-scale digital economization will drive the reform of the entire society in all aspects.
"It's a big responsibility for the students of Lakewood to see the opportunity for change, to wake up together and turn these ideas, these thoughts, into action," said Ma.
Hupan University was founded in 2015 by nine entrepreneurs and renowned scholars, including Liu Chuanzhi and Jack Ma, who was Hupan University's first president. Since the first commencement ceremony on March 27, 2015, seven cohorts have been enrolled.
