China's ride-sharing giant Didi Chuxing is currently hiring van and truck drivers in 10 Chinese cities, with plans to join the already crowded on-demand logistics industry to diversify its business, according to Reuters.
In the job posting, Didi Chuxing said 580 van and truck drivers will be recruited in 10 cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou and Shenzhen to provide on-demand logistics services.
Didi Chuxing divided the vehicles into five categories, ranging from minivans to 4.2-metre trucks. The company requires drivers to have the appropriate license and will provide training services.
In March this year, Didi Chuxing launched a delivery service in 21 cities in China.
That service was incubated by the Didi Valet business and the first order was taken on by Didi Valet drivers.
In contrast, its U.S. counterpart Uber already operates the Uber Freight service.
In fact, in the middle of last month, domestic media reported that Didi Cargo had begun recruiting drivers.
The recruitment period is May 18 to June 18, with a 30-day platform service fee waived for registered Didi shipments, according to the recruitment information. At that time, the recruitment sites were Hangzhou and Chengdu.
