Alipay recently conducted a round of organizational restructuring, with search business becaming an independent division for the first time, according to Sina Tech.
Yuan Huaibin, former Taobao search product director, was transferred to Alipay as head of Alipay's search business, the report said.
Yuan has been with Alibaba for 12 years. He had led the search recommendation product team to lead the revamp of Taobao home page, presenting different content for different users, which is considered an important transformation of the Taobao App.
Search becaming a separate division also meant that its strategic position was further enhanced within Alipay.
Alipay data shows that over the past year, search has become the core traffic portal for users to get applet services within Alipay.
Sources revealed that Alipay search box is about to usher in an important revamp, the direction will focus on the intelligent and personalized search. This fits in nicely with Yuan Huaibin's experience of change on Taobao App.
