China's Beidou Industry Collaborative Development Platform set up by central enterprises was inaugurated and the online opening ceremony was held in Beijing on May 14.
The platform is backed by companies including: China Ordnance Industries Group Corporation Limited, China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, China Electronics Technology Group, PetroChina, State Grid, China Mobile, China Electronics Corporation, China National Machinery Industry Corporation, Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, China Railway Signal & Communication, China Railway Construction Corporation, China Communications Construction Company.
The platform is committed to promoting the scale, specialization, industrialization and internationalization of Beidou applications to better serve the national strategy, national security, national defense construction and economic and social development.
Ren Hongbin, party member and deputy director of the SASAC, said that the SASAC vigorously guided and promoted the central enterprises to accelerate the scale, industrialization and internationalization of Beidou and achieved positive results.
These central enterprises undertake major national Beidou engineering tasks, with the aim of driving Beidou service capabilities and developing Beidou applications.
Relying on overseas business resources and major construction projects, it promotes Beidou applications in more than 80 countries and regions along the "One Belt, One Road" route.
He stressed that the central enterprises concerned should take the establishment of the Beidou Industry Collaborative Development Platform as an opportunity to strengthen the integration and application, strengthen the collaborative development and make greater contributions to the construction of "China's Beidou, the world's Beidou, first-class Beidou".
A previous white paper released by the China Satellite Navigation and Positioning Association showed that by the end of 2019, sales of domestic Beidou-compatible chips and modules had exceeded 100 million, and total sales of domestic satellite navigation and positioning terminal products exceeded 460 million units.
Sales of smartphones with satellite-based navigation and positioning capabilities reached 372 million units. At present, the total social ownership of Beidou-compatible end products, including smartphones, has exceeded 700 million units/set.
