NIO founder William Li Bin has said that Tesla is not insurmountable. Now it seems that NIO has surpassed Tesla, at least in this ranking of automotive brand innovations.

"The market is big enough," Li said, noting that their main competitors should be fuel cars.

NIO shares plunged nearly 8% on Friday after being shorted by Citron, but the company's shares rallied more than 2% on Monday and more than 2% in pre-market trading on Tuesday.
