The Huawei Mate 40 will be powered by the Kirin 9000 chip, which will be the last generation of Kirin high-end chip that can't be produced in the future, Huawei Consumer Business CEO Richard Yu said today.

The new 5nm Kirin chip in Huawei's upcoming Mate40 series of flagship phones costs somewhere between the Apple A14 and ARM CPU, according to a prominent Chinese blogger.

Huawei today announced the Huawei Changxiang Tablet 2, priced from 1,599 yuan ($230).

The Honor Play3 variant with the Kirin 710A chipset that is made by the Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC), the biggest chipmaker on the Chinese mainland will be released soon, according to a famous digital blogger.

Following the 5G communication chip and HiCar screen casting solution, Huawei's heavyweight product, the Kirin chip, also has a clear intention to get on the cars.

Despite the escalation of the US ban, Huawei seems to be making steady progress on its Mate 40 and P50 series, which are expected to be launched with the 5nm next-generation Kirin processor. 

Not long ago, Cambricon Technologies, one of China's most valuable AI chip firms, reported a sharp decline in its 2019 results as disclosed in its prospectus, prompting inquiries from the Shanghai Stock Exchange.

Huawei reportedly will launch wireless headset with Kirin A1 chip

Honor recently released the Honor Play 4T series of phones, of which Play 4T only costs 1,199 yuan, and it uses the Kirin 710A processor.

At the product launch event on March 30, Honor President George Zhao unveiled the Kirin 820 5G processor, which is an upgraded version of the 7nm Kirin 810 processor in 2019. The 5G capability is the same as the Kirin 990 5G.
