Hello Chuxing, the Chinese bicycle-sharing platform once known as Hellobike, announced that all of its bikes have been connected to the BeiDou positioning system, following the successful launch of the last satellite of the global BeiDou-3 system today.
Hello Chuxing's co-founder and CEO, Li Kaizhu said that this is the first large-scale application of the BeiDou positioning service in the travel sharing field.
Hello Chuxing uses technology to optimize the parking order of vehicles on municipal roads by guiding users to standardize parking through full access to the BeiDou's high-precision navigation and positioning system, he said.
At the end of March, Hello Chuxing launched its new bike-sharing model "Yunxing" and its new bike-sharing model "Yunqi", both of which are connected to the BeiDou positioning service.
Subsequently, Hello Chuxing carried out a remote firmware upgrade for all bikes on the road, and all Hello Chuxing bikes are now equipped with BeiDou.
Each Hello bike contains a BeiDou positioning device inside its smart lock, which receives BeiDou satellite signals and sends the vehicle's location information to Hello Chuxing's data center.
Hello Chuxing collects vehicle positioning information in the background to understand the real-time location and movement of each vehicle.
Based on this, Hello Chuxing can estimate rider demand in advance and send intelligent vehicle dispatching instructions to the roadside operations and maintenance team, such as "fill the vehicle demand gap in a specific area".
