TikTok was the world's most downloaded app (non-game) in May, with more than 119.9 million units installed, a two-fold increase from May 2019, according to Sensor Tower.
The country with the most TikTok apps installed in May was India, with 20 percent of its total downloads, and the United States, with 9.3 percent.
Looking at mobile systems, TikTok ranked first in downloads on Android in May and second in downloads on Apple's iOS system behind online meeting software Zoom.
Douyin (Chinese version of TikTok) and TikTok were ranked as the top mobile apps in terms of revenue in the global App Store and Google Play in April this year, with revenue of more than $78 million (about 560 million RMB), up 10 times from April last year, according to data previously released by Sensor Tower.
Of this, 86.6% of revenue comes from the Chinese domestic market and 8.2% from the US market.
TikTok was downloaded 700 million times in 2019, second only to Facebook's social software WhatsAPP, according to Sensor Tower.
