A new study says it found a way to kill new coronaviruses faster, noting that the new coronaviruses are more resistant to high temperatures than previously thought.
The study pointed out that researchers from France infected African green monkey kidney cells with a new coronavirus and placed these cells in a "dirty" environment and a "clean" environment.
The two vials were heated at 140 degrees Fahrenheit (60 ยฐC) for 1 hour, and the researchers found that the virus was still able to replicate.
The higher temperature and shorter time can effectively stop the virus's ability to replicate.
The researchers pointed out that the program of heating at 92 ยฐC for 15 minutes is better than the program of heating at 56 ยฐC for 30 minutes and 60 ยฐC for 60 minutes, which can quickly and effectively kill the virus.
The purpose of the research conducted by the researchers is to help scientists formulate safe treatment options worldwide while continuing to search for COVID-19 treatments and vaccines.
The researchers said that although the 92 ยฐC heating for 15 minutes can kill the new coronavirus, it may also fragment its RNA, thus affecting the detection.
Because clinical samples collected in patients with suspected new coronavirus pneumonia are usually performed in the BSL-2 laboratory, the results of this study help to select the most suitable inactivation protocol to prevent the direct and indirect detection of new coronavirus Laboratory personnel are exposed to the virus.
The research was published in bioRxiv but has not yet been peer-reviewed.
