Washing your hands has always been an important way to prevent the spread of viruses, but with the COVID-19 pandemic, it's more important than ever to get into the habit.
However, it's easier said than done to establish and stick to new hand-washing habits, so Samsung has developed a new hand-washing app for Galaxy Watch and Gear owners that can help them do just that.
The new app, called "Hand Wash," is on the Galaxy App Store and supports the Gear S3, Gear Sport, Galaxy Watch, Galaxy Watch Active and Galaxy Watch Active 2.
The app is straightforward in that it allows users to set hand-washing reminders and alarms on a regular basis.
For example, users can set the APP to remind themselves to wash their hands every two or three hours, and in turn, the APP will play alerts during this time period.
When it comes to hand washing, it's not just frequency that matters. How long you wash your hands is also important, so when the APP tells you it's time to go to the sink, it will also display a countdown timer that you can use to know you've washed your hands thoroughly.
The countdown will run for a total of 25 seconds, 5 seconds to turn on the water, pick up the soap, and 20 seconds to scrub.
The app will also show you how long it's been since you last washed your hands, let you record "unscheduled" hand-washing times, such as after eating or going to the bathroom, and track your daily hand-washing habits to show you the average number of times per week.
So, if you're struggling with sticking to a hand-washing schedule and you have the smartwatch listed above, maybe you should try this app.
You can find it by searching for "hand washing" in the Galaxy Store, and if you need a step-by-step guide on how to wash your hands effectively, check out the graphic below.
