Chinese telecoms giant Huawei said that disrupting its involvement in the rollout of 5G would do Britain "a disservice".
Since the new coronavirus invaded the UK, data usage has soared by 50% or more, which has put tremendous pressure on telecommunications systems, Huawei's UK chief Victor Zhang said in an open letter published on its official website.
Huawei stated that it cooperated with companies such as Vodafone, British Telecom, EE and Three during the outbreak to ensure that businesses and the public can maintain online contact.
Huawei has also established three new warehouses and redistributed key components across the UK to ensure continuity of supply.
Huawei pointed out that the epidemic crisis highlights that there are still many people, especially those living in rural areas, who still cannot enjoy fast and reliable networks.
Huawei is helping to reverse this situation and has the same goal as the British government-a safe and reliable Gigabit broadband network.
Over the past 20 years, Huawei has built trust in British business to provide consumers with affordable and reliable communication networks.
In response to the unwarranted criticism of Huawei's participation in 5G construction by certain British politicians, Huawei said that preventing or even interrupting Huawei's participation in 5G construction will be detrimental to the UK.
"Disrupting our involvement in the 5G rollout would do Britain a disservice," the letter said.
Huawei will continue to guarantee the operation of the telecommunications system in the United Kingdom and can play a role in helping the United Kingdom through this difficult period.
