Microsoft China hinted on Weibo on March 30 that a Chinese version of the Xbox Series X is coming soon in order to get a piece of the increasingly popular game console market in China.
Microsoft China mentioned @Xbox on Weibo and said it is preparing for gamers. "Waiting for gamers, ready to go," Microsoft China wrote.
When Microsoft launched the Xbox Series X last November, there were rumors that the Chinese versions of the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S had received the China CCC Certification, but then there was no news.
Previous rumors said that the Xbox Series S China version would be priced at RMB 2,500 ($380) and the Xbox Series X would cost close to RMB 4,000.
The Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S are powered by AMD 8-core processors, with the former having a core frequency of 3.8GHz and the latter 3.6GHz.
The Xbox Series X comes with a 52CU GPU at 1.825GHz with 12.15 TFLOPS performance, while the Xbox Series S has a 20CU GPU at 1.565GHz with 4 TFLOPS performance.
The Xbox Series X comes with 16GB of video memory and a 1TB SSD, targeting gaming experiences at 4K. The Xbox Series S comes with 10GB of video memory and a 512GB SSD, targeting 2K gaming.
The Xbox Series X's SSD brings faster game load times and also supports Quick Resume, which allows games to be suspended without being affected by other programs.
The Xbox Series X can run thousands of games from previous consoles, bringing improved resolution, frame rate, and image quality to older games, as well as automatically adding HDR effects.
Notably, earlier today, Chinese e-commerce platforms, including Alibaba's Taobao, are removing overseas versions of PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and other game consoles.
The move is expected to significantly compress the living space of this gray market that has previously existed, giving official Chinese versions of game consoles a greater chance of growth.
A large number of Taobao stores have had overseas versions of PS5 and Xbox Series X/S removed, including Hong Kong, Japanese, US, and European versions of the models, according to mydrivers.com.
The report cited unnamed Taobao merchants as saying that in addition to the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S overseas versions being removed, overseas versions of Nintendo Switch were also removed.
