Realme India market share soars to 14%-CnTechPost

Xiaomi came first in the Indian market with a 30% market share, followed by Vivo and Samsung with 17% and 16%, market research agency Counterpointโ€™s first quarter of the Indian smartphone market report showed.

It's worth noting that Realme, the fourth-ranked handset maker with 14% market share, doubled its market share compared to last year, making it the largest player in TOP5.

Some of you may not know the brand Realme, we're here to tell you about it.

Realme was established in May 2018 when it debuted as a new sub-brand of OPPO in the Indian market, focusing on cheap mobile phones and online market, and started operating independently in July of the same year.

Since its inception, Realme has entered 22 countries and regions including India, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Pakistan, Egypt, Myanmar, and Singapore. In the fourth quarter of 2018, Realme became the fourth largest mobile phone vendor in India.

In August 2019, Realme officially announced that the brand had reached 10 million users in just one year.

In the third quarter of 2019, a report on the global smartphone market released by market research agency Counterpoint showed that Realme's share ranking jumped to global TOP7, making it the fastest-growing smartphone brand in the world.

In November 2019, Counterpoint data showed that Realme became the top five mobile phone brands in Spain just one and a half months after entering the market.

In December 2019, Realme announced the full range of 5G for the Chinese market in 2020, completing the coverage of the full price segment 5G models from the $1000 entry to the high-end flagship.

In April 2020, Xu Qi, Vice President of Realme, announced that Realme had entered into a strategic partnership with Chinese retailer Suning Tesco to locate its offline stores in China.
