OnePlus released two new smartphones for the international market -- OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro, on April 14 at an online press event.
OnePlus has announced their prices. Taking the US market as an example, OnePlus 8 will cost $699 for 8GB RAM + 128GB storage and $799 for 12GB RAM + 256GB storage. OnePlus 8 Pro with 8GB memory + 128GB storage is priced at $899, 12GB memory + 256GB storage version is priced at $999.
On April 21, European customers can buy on the official website of OnePlus, and on April 29, they will be available to American users.
Both phones support 5G networks. For the first time in its history, OnePlus has partnered with US carrier Verizon to sell OnePlus 8 online (not OnePlus 8 Pro).
OnePlus 8 Pro uses an impressive 6.78-inch 120Hz QHD + AMOLED screen. OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus 7T use 90Hz AMOLED screens, and the latest flagship phones are now upgraded to 120Hz refresh rate.
In addition, the screen also supports 240Hz touch sampling rate, which can provide more smooth transition animation and touch response capabilities.
OnePlus 8 Pro is equipped with a 48-megapixel Sony custom main camera, a 48-megapixel 120-degree ultra wide-angle camera, a 3X telephoto camera, and a maximum zoom of 30 times.
It also has a color filter sensor-making it the first OnePlus phone with four rear cameras.
OnePlus cooperates with Sony to develop a custom IMX689 sensor, which is the largest and highest technology sensor used by OnePlus. The larger the sensor in the camera, the more light it receives, which reduces noise and increases dynamic range.
Unlike most other ultra-wide-angle lenses, OnePlus 8 Pro does not affect image quality. It uses the flagship Sony IMX586 sensor. Like the main camera, its output is 48 million pixels.
OnePlus 8 Pro is equipped with Snapdragon 865 processor, has 8GB / 12GB of LPDDR5 memory, and has 128GB / 256GB UFS3.0 storage.
Its 4510mAh battery has sufficient battery life. When charging is required, the power of both wired and wireless flash charging is 30W.
In order to get 30W wireless charging speed, you will need OnePlus' proprietary wireless charger, but if you don't want to buy other accessories, you can use OnePlus 8 Pro with any Qi charger.
Using Warp Charge 30T wired charging, charging 60% in 30 minutes, using Warp Charge 30 Wireless wireless charging charging 51% in 30 minutes.
OnePlus 8 Pro measures 165.3 x 74.3 x 8.5mm and weighs 199g.
As for OnePlus 8, from a design perspective, OnePlus 8 looks very much like OnePlus 8 Pro.
The most obvious difference is that it is more compact, with a smaller 6.55-inch display, similar to the width of the iPhone 11 Pro.
The screen has a Full HD + resolution of 2400 x 1080, a 90Hz screen refresh rate, an AMOLED panel and supports HDR.
Other specifications of OnePlus 8 include three rear cameras (48MP main camera, 16MP ultra wide-angle lens and macro camera), Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor, 8GB / 12GB LPDDR4X memory, 128GB / 256GB UFS 3.0 storage.
It supports 30W wired charging with Turbo write and HPB, equipped with 4300mAh battery and Warp Charge 30T. Unfortunately, OnePlus 8 does not support wireless charging.
OnePlus 8 supports USB-C, WiFi 6, Warp Charge 30T wired fast charging, and Dolby Atmos dual stereo speakers.
OnePlus 8 measures 160.2 x 72.9 x 8.0mm and weighs 180g.
