China’s top display maker BOE is one of the suppliers of the two other upcoming iPhone models besides the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max, chinastarmarket.cn said, citing supply chain sources.
Previously, BOE had provided LCD screens for the iPhone. The iPhone X is the first time for BOE to provide OLED screens for the iPhone.
In February this year, it was reported that BOE has successfully entered Apple's supplier directory to supply flexible OLED screen panels for the iPhone.
However, the BOE has not been able to change its role as the second supplier like South Korea's LGD. The main supplier of OLED screens for Apple's 12 new machines is South Korea's Samsung's panel factory Samsung Display.

Supply chain related sources said, "the second supplier is the backup, and their supply is not large. Generally speaking, the second supplier will have a chance when the first supplier has problems, or when demand suddenly increases resulting in insufficient supply from the first supplier."
In September 2019, BOE restarted its efforts to enter Apple's iPhone supply chain. In early 2019, BOE attempted to supply Apple's iPhone 12, but due to the yield rate did not meet the requirements, Apple still ended up using LGD and Samsung, while excluding BOE.
Apple said Tuesday that it will hold its second special fall launch event of the year at 10 a.m. Pacific Time on October 13. The company is expected to unveil the new iPhone 12 series as well as other new products such as Air Tags.
Last month, Apple already held a fall launch event with the theme "Time Flies". The upcoming event, like the Time Flies launch and this year's Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), will be held online.
According to previous reports, Apple will launch four new iPhone 12 models this year with the 5nm A14 processor and a return to the iPhone 4's tough design.
In addition to the new ToF camera, the rear camera's wide-angle lens has been upgraded to Sensor-shift Optical Image Stabilization, according to a report.
Previously, Tianfeng International analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that the size of the notch on the new 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch iPhone 12 models is the same as that of the iPhone 11. The 5.4-inch iPhone notch is slightly narrower to allow for information to be displayed in the upper left and upper right.
