Doctors puzzled by complications of kidney damage in Covid-19 patients-CnTechPost

The new coronavirus disease Covid-19 can cause a series of symptoms, including fever, fatigue, and more severe patients with dyspnea and lung damage. However, as the outbreak continued, medical experts and researchers noticed that the kidneys of some patients with new coronaviruses were damaged, and they could not explain why.

Kidneys are responsible for cleaning blood, and they are essential for the health of the human body. Unfortunately, because viruses can bind to specific receptors on certain cells, they may be susceptible to new coronaviruses.ย  Depending on the cell, there are different binding sites.

The new coronavirus can bind to the ACE2 receptor, which makes it incredibly dangerous to lung cells including the binding site. The kidney also has ACE2 receptors, and doctors worry that the virus may also directly damage the kidney.

However, this theory has yet to be confirmed. There are other ways in which Covid-19 infection can cause kidney damage without direct contact with the virus.

As NBC News reported, Dr. Holly Kramer, chairman of the National Kidney Foundation (NKF), suggested that kidney damage may be the result of insufficient oxygen flow after the virus attacks the lungs.

If this is the case, kidney damage is just a side effect of the lungs not being able to provide enough oxygen to other parts of the body.

This makes sense, because those with the most severe new coronavirus infections often show severe lung damage and a sharp drop in blood oxygen levels.

In addition, some doctors said that the virus can cause thrombosis. Because the kidney is the body's blood filter, blood clots can seriously affect the kidney's ability to keep blood flowing clean.

People with poor kidney function may have increased the risk of severely affecting their health due to new coronavirus infection. Therefore, it is still important to maintain the treatment schedule for patients with renal dialysis.

The new coronavirus pneumonia pandemic has changed many things in a short period of time. This poses a challenge for doctors and scientists to develop a treatment plan suitable for patients with different existing health problems.

Looking forward, we are expected to understand what effect coronavirus has on the kidneys, so that doctors can form a more effective treatment plan.
