Just two days after India banned 59 apps developed by Chinese companies, Apple and Google have also started complying with the Indian government's order to prevent Indian users from accessing them.

After a year and a half on line, Facebook has decided to abandon the Lasso short video app designed to replace TikTok.

Over the past few years, ByteDance has invested more than $1 billion in India, and now almost all of its products are banned in India, resulting in a loss of more than $6 billion, 36Kr reported, citing people close to ByteDance.

In the first half of the year, TikTok was downloaded 626 million times to rank No. 1 in the world, according to Sensor Tower. 

TikTok is no longer working in India as most ISPs including Airtel and Vodafone seem to have blocked the use of the app.

The Indian government issued a notice on Monday banning 59 mobile applications from the Indian market on the grounds that they "affect national security".

TikTok has recently opened its first Australian office with Lee Hunter, a former Google executive, as TikTok Australia general manager.

TikTok is popular around the world due to its accurate video recommendations and social networking feature.

Google, Facebook, and TikTok owner ByteDance were the publishers of the most downloaded apps in the world in May, SensorTower reports.

TikTok owner, Beijing-based ByteDance, generated around 40 billion yuan ($5.64 billion) in revenue for the first quarter of this year, Reuters reported on Wednesday citing two people with knowledge of the matter.
