Chinese Internet giant ByteDance has announced plans to shut down two apps in its largest overseas market, India, and urged users to switch to TikTok.

Kuaishou's short-form video app Zynn, which is a TikTok clone launched in the global market, has been removed from the Play Store by Google, though Google has yet to announce the exact reason for the removal.

A study of app usage found that TikTok is almost as popular among children as YouTube.

TikTok was the world's most downloaded app (non-game) in May, with more than 119.9 million units installed, a two-fold increase from May 2019, according to Sensor Tower.
