China Mobile's 5G users reach 165 million

China Mobile's 5G users reached 165 million, with a net increase of 162 million in 2020, the Chinese mobile network carrier said on March 25.

China Mobile's investment in 5G totaled RMB 102.5 billion ($15.68 billion) in 2020, with 340,000 new 5G base stations built and a cumulative total of 390,000 5G base stations opened.

By 2020, China Mobile had 942 million users, with a mobile ARPU of RMB 47.4, a 4.0% year-on-year decline, and a 39.0% increase in mobile internet DOU to 9.4GB.

China Mobile's net profit for 2020 was RMB 107.8 billion, up 1.1% year-on-year, with operating income of RMB 768.1 billion, up 3.0% year-on-year, and EBITDA of RMB 285.1 billion.

Of this, communications services revenue was RMB 695.7 billion, up 3.2%, and it had 210 million cable modem users.
