Chinese chipmaker Loongson Technology on March 17 unveiled an industrial-grade tablet PC using its own chip, the Loongson 2K1000.
The device is drop-proof, dustproof, and waterproof, and can also add an encryption and decryption security module. It can be used for industrial inspections, outdoor exploration, and secure meetings in government departments.
The circuit layout and all functional modules of the Loongson 2K1000 chip are designed in-house, and all circuit design source code is written in-house, the company said.
The Loongson ruggedized tablet supports operating systems including LoongOS, Loongnix, Debian, Kirin, and UOS.
The Loongson 2K1000 chip integrates a GPU, display controller, audio HDA/I2S interface, two RGMII Gigabit Ethernet interfaces, two LAN CAN controllers, VPU decoder, CAMERA interface controller, temperature sensor, dynamic power control module, and PCI-E 2.0 interface.
CnTechPost reported earlier this month that Loongson's 12nm process chip, Loongson 3A5000/3C5000, will be available soon.
Loongson Technology Chairman Hu Weiwu said in April 2020 that the Loongson 3A5000, a 4-core 2.5GHz chip with a 12nm process, was taped-out in the first half of 2020.
Loongson 3A5000 not only increases the main frequency and number of cores but also the memory controller latency bandwidth optimization and doubles the LLC.
