OPPO unveiled the OPPO X 2021 scroll screen concept phone at the OPPO INNO DAY 2020 on Tuesday, which features an OLED flexible scroll screen with a minimum of 6.7 inches and a maximum of 7.4 inches. Li Xuezheng, vice president of BOE, said on Weibo today that the screen was provided by them.
The OPPO X 2021 achieves an almost "zero crease", scroll-like, free-stretching screen through OPPO's self-developed Roll Motor powertrain, dual-matrix embedded clutch structure, and screen dynamic zone skeleton stack.
OPPO says structural engineers designed the "Roll Motor" power scheme to make the screen expand and retract in a softer, smoother way.
This solution uses two built-in drive motors to output a constant force that is directly used to unfold and retract the screen, so that the screen is evenly stressed during movement and the screen is effectively prevented from being damaged by sudden forces.
According to OPPO, the OPPO X 2021 scrolling screen concept is OPPO's exploration and experimentation with the shape of mobile phone screens.
Compared to foldable screens with a fixed screen size, the scrolling screen can be infinitely adjusted between the minimum and maximum size, bringing more possibilities for productivity, entertainment and daily use.
