Chinese city installs new streetlights that can offer wireless charging to phones-CnTechPost

The Jianghan Road in central China's Wuhan has new streetlights installed that can provide wireless charging to mobile phones, according to the People's Daily. 

Wuhan has installed more than 60 of these streetlights on Jianghan Road, each of which has two places to charge, and is fast charging.

The site staff said, new street lamp wireless charging device can charge a mobile phone to more than 70% within 15 to 20 minutes, according to the report. 

But the staff reminded that when charging, users should pay attention to the protection of mobile phones and be careful of not being take away.

Wuhan's Jianghan Road Pedestrian Street is one of the first 11 pilot quality-improvement commercial pedestrian streets in China, with a history of over 100 years. After nearly half a year of comprehensive upgrades, the street started to be equipped with a large number of smart devices in October this year.

    They can make small in-wall public boxes (like postal boxes but even smaller) for wireless charging purposes which make people open it and put their phones inside and lock it with their fingerprint instead of keys.
