Vivo says it has started 6G research-CnTechPost

In the 6G white paper communication meeting held by Vivo, Qin Fei, president of Vivo Communication Research Institute, said that Vivo has started 6G research, including some scenarios, key technology research, etc. In his opinion, mobile phones, AR/VR glasses, and robots are important products in 6G.

In Qin Fei's view, mobile phones, AR/VR glasses, and robots are important products for building a digital life in 6G.

As far as robots are concerned, Qin Fei predicts that by 2030, multi-functional robots will replace the existing primary robots, whose intelligence can be updated and stored, and other technologies related to robots will also advance.

In terms of AR and VR technology, Qin Fei believes that future glasses will be thinner, more comfortable, and may be connected to the brain-machine interface, accurate reading of the human brain.

Vivo enters six European countries to accelerate globalization

In terms of mobile phones, he believes that smartphones are unlikely to be replaced in the 6G era. The reasons for this are: touch screens are very difficult to replace; communication still requires a communication module to connect; computing power requires a computing unit, ARM cores; and everyone needs an intelligent information terminal as a gateway to the digital world.

When it comes to which field or form factor Vivo is more inclined to in the 6G era, Qin Fei replied that the company will develop more 2C (To C) terminals in the future, and more applications will rely on the upstream to provide corresponding business services and play a bridging role.

When talking about the difference between 5G and 6G, Qin Fei replied that 4G and 5G are about connectivity and digitalization, while 6G is about strengthening the two and combining them with intelligent development to provide communication, computing, and storage services.

He also said that 6G cannot simply be equated with 5G+AI technology, but that the two technologies are independent of each other at this stage and will develop in a convergent manner in the future.
