NIO OS 2.7.0 makes high-precision maps available for Chinese car models for first time-CnTechPost

Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker NIO (NYSE: NIO) has unveiled NIO OS 2.7.0 at the 2020 Beijing Auto Show, bringing new features such as the industry-leading Navigate on Pilot (NOP) navigational assistance.

The function enables automatic driving assistance by following a navigation route under a specified path, making NIO the first Chinese automaker to use high-precision maps in mass production.

NIO unveils NOP driver assistance feature at Beijing auto show, push expected in October

According to NIO, the navigation assist function will be pushed to users in batches via FOTA (remote firmware update) in October along with NIO OS 2.7.0 upgrade.

In addition to NOP, the upgrade will simultaneously introduce nearly 20 new and optimized features such as camera-based driver fatigue warning, remote seat ventilation on, 5.1 immersive surround sound, and other features aimed at improving the car experience.

This function follows the recent agreement signed between NIO and BeiDou Navigation.

On September 23, the China BeiDou Applications Conference and the 9th Annual China Satellite Navigation and Location Services Conference were held in the central Chinese city of Wuhan.

This is the highest level and most authoritative conference in the BeiDou field in China, and 10 projects, including NIO's new energy equipment manufacturing and battery service projects, were signed at the conference.
