DSCC screen analyst Ross Young shared information about screens for all models in the 2020 iPhone 12 product line. According to a chart provided by Ross Young, this year's iPhone 12 series screens will come from three vendors, namely Samsung, BOE and LG Display.
The iPhone 12 will feature an OLED screen from Samsung that supports Y-OCTA integrated touch technology.Y-OCTA is an exclusive Samsung technology that integrates the touch sensor with the OLED panel, eliminating the need for a separate touch layer. The 5.4-inch iPhone 12 has a resolution of 2340 x 1080 and 475 PPI.
The 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Max will feature a display from BOE and LG with 2532 x 1170 resolution and 460 PPI.
The high-end 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro will feature OLED from Samsung and support 10-bit color depths, which means more realistic colors and overly subdued colors. The iPhone 12 Pro does not have Y-OCTA technology and has the same resolution as the iPhone 12 Pro.
Apple may bring XDR screen technology to the iPhone 12 series.XDR first appeared on the Apple Pro Display XDR professional display with a maximum brightness of 1000 nits, peak excitation brightness of 1600 nits, 1 million to 1 contrast ratio, 10-bit color depth, 100% P3 color gamut. But Samsung OLED screens can't be held to such high standards, so Apple may adjust some parameters.
The iPhone 12 Pro Max has a resolution of 2778 x 1284 with 458 PPI. this screen supports Y-OCTA technology with 10-bit color depth.
