The electrification of vehicles in China is touching almost every possible area.

With the explosive growth of China's new energy vehicle industry, Contemporary Amperex Technology (CATL), the country's largest automotive lithium-ion battery maker, is increasing its production capacity to meet the soaring demand.

The ship is equipped with CATL's power batteries, with a total power capacity of 7.5MWh, which is equivalent to the total battery capacity of more than 100 electric cars.

The plant will be operational by 2024 and that CATL has signed an agreement with PT Aneka Tambang, Indonesia's state-owned mining company.

The battery's energy density will be 30-40 percent higher than the current industry-leading level and can achieve a maximum range of about 1,000km and zero decay for 200,000 km.

LG Chem and CATL are battling for the top position in the global electric vehicle battery market.

Currently, battery suppliers for the China-made Model 3 include both CATL and LG Chem.
