Alibaba announced the official release of Qoder 1.0, an AI (artificial intelligence) programming tool, describing it as a workspace for autonomous agent development rather than a traditional AI integrated development environment.

Developers now only need to focus on defining requirements, allowing the agent team to operate on "autopilot".

The agents can autonomously complete the entire workflow of task execution, code verification, and final delivery, according to a Friday announcement.

The tool upgrades the Quest feature from a single mode into an independent window system. It integrates core engineering capabilities including task management, status tracking, output review, and knowledge retrieval.

Developers can switch between task delegation and collaborative programming modes, making in-depth reviews of engineering details and context transitions more seamless and efficient.

Qoder 1.0 extends task parallelism across projects and codebases. Users can simultaneously run agent tasks for multiple projects from a unified control panel.

The system assigns independent status tags to each task, providing a clear overview of overall progress. Upon task completion, it automatically generates a detailed delivery checklist, including code changes, for review.

The tool introduces a globally pioneering team-level knowledge-sharing mechanism. It integrates scattered memories, repository wikis, and knowledge cards into a unified team knowledge engine, according to Alibaba Cloud.

Test data shows the knowledge engine boosted code retention rates by 11%. Meanwhile, users' input token consumption dropped by 40%, and dialogue rounds decreased by 33%, the announcement said.

The new version officially introduces an Experts mode, allowing developers to create customized agent teams.

Users can configure domain knowledge, task skills, and external tool interfaces for these teams, the statement said.

Qoder is Alibaba's agent programming platform for global developers, featuring products such as Qoder IDE, Qoder CLI, the Qoder JetBrains plugin, Qoder Mobile, QoderWork, and QoderWake.

Since its launch in August 2025, Qoder has served more than 5 million users globally.

The former head of Tongyi Qwen research is raising hundreds of millions of dollars, with HongShan Capital and Gaorong Capital participating in investment talks.
