Tencent has officially launched DataBuddy, a native artificial intelligence (AI) agent designed specifically for enterprise big data platforms.

The tool aims to comprehensively upgrade enterprise AI applications from a simple tool-assisted stage to an autonomous delivery phase driven by agents.

Users can now command the agent through simple natural language conversations to complete full-link tasks including data integration, development, governance, and analysis, according to an announcement on Tuesday.

As the third member of the Tencent Buddy family, DataBuddy is built on the WorkBuddy architecture and integrates over a decade of big data experience.

The new product has been specifically optimized and enhanced for practical implementation across three core enterprise scenarios: data analysis, data governance, and data engineering, the announcement said.

It can help business personnel who cannot write SQL code easily generate visual dashboards, while ensuring that different users receive consistent analytical answers.

In terms of data governance, DataBuddy upgrades traditional manual inspections and post-event remedies into an automated process that includes AI diagnostics.

It can automatically detect issues such as missing metadata and compliance risks, thereby drastically shortening governance work that previously took dozens of days to just a few hours, the announcement said.

Enterprise-grade security is a key consideration for the agent to be allowed into core data scenarios and execute high-value tasks for clients in highly sensitive industries.

DataBuddy follows the principle of least privilege for data access and is equipped with interception mechanisms specifically targeting new risks such as prompt injection attacks, the announcement said.

Tencent previously launched the desktop application WorkBuddy in March, which aims to help non-technical employees automate daily office chores.

The launch of DataBuddy broadens the product lineup of its Buddy family.

Tencent's continued expansion in the AI agent sector reflects the fierce competition among Chinese tech giants as they strive to transform AI into a fundamental execution tool.

The new platform allows product teams to generate editable user interfaces and code through natural language prompts.
