Chinese e-commerce giant JD.com has launched an industry-first "robot ambulance" service, aiming to provide professional maintenance and repair for cutting-edge humanoid and quadruped robots.
The service covers needs such as fault diagnosis, battery replacement, and equipment recycling, and has already officially commenced operations in Beijing.
Amid the global boom in the robotics industry, the company plans to expand this door-to-door service to over 50 core cities nationwide within the next three years, according to a JD.com announcement on Wednesday.
To support the rapid expansion of this massive after-sales maintenance network, the company has launched a recruitment plan for over 10,000 professional robot repair service personnel.
This on-site repair service has already been extended to European countries such as the UK and Germany, and will continue to explore vast overseas markets including North America and the Asia-Pacific region, according to the announcement.
The company has specifically introduced a "120" after-sales service standard, promising a one-minute rapid response, two-hour express on-site arrival, and same-day repair completion.
This "robot ambulance" team will provide support for the 2026 Beijing Yizhuang Humanoid Robot Half Marathon, which kicks off on April 19, the statement noted.
The event brings together over 300 humanoid robots from 26 mainstream brands, and JD.com has already helped damaged robots return to the arena during multiple test runs.
The company's core goal is to help partner robot brands achieve a cumulative sales volume exceeding 10 billion yuan ($1.47 billion) in 2026, and to build a smart brain for robots relying on large model technology, the company said.
