Huawei to hold developer conference on Sept 10, will give updates on HarmonyOS and EMUI 11-CnTechPost

The Huawei Developer Conference 2020 will take place from September 10 to September 12, Beijing time in Songshan Lake, Dongguan, the company said on its developers website.

Huawei said, "We'll be sharing the latest on HMS Core 5.0, giving new updates about HarmonyOS and EMUI 11, and unveiling many more exciting technologies."

Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei's Consumer Business, Wang Chengluo, President of Huawei's Consumer Business Software Division, and Zhang Pingan, President of Huawei's Consumer Business Cloud Service, will be among the special guests.

HMS now offers 7 types of new services, and more than 10 distribution platforms. Our HMS incentive program now covers over 1.6 million developers around the world and our cross-device services reach 700 million users.

HarmonyOS is breaking down boundaries in communication, and the long-anticipated Seamless AI Life paradigm for ubiquitous, connected intelligence, is just around the corner, Huawei said.

As for the timing of a phone powered by HarmonyOS, Richard Yu said that the plan is not to release it this year, but possibly next year.

Huawei's Richard Yu says phone with HarmonyOS won't come this year

This means that the much-anticipated phone with HarmonyOS will not be released at Huawei's developer conference next month.

Last August, Huawei unveiled the mobile operating system HarmonyOS at its developer conference, and the first hardware powered by the system was the Honor Smart Screen.

Richard Yu has said that HarmonyOS is Huawei's future-oriented OS, a microkernel-based distributed OS for all scenarios.

The use of HarmonyOS in mobile phone products has been highly anticipated, and analysts have predicted that Huawei is expected to launch smartphone products with HarmonyOS by the end of this year at the earliest.

However, Richard Yu denied the prediction at an entrepreneur forum held on August 29. He said the plan won't be released this year, but could happen next year.
