Xiaomi today unveiled its third-generation under-screen camera technology, dubbed "the ultimate form of full-screen", which will be in mass production next year.
The under-screen camera technology has been around since 2019, with a number of mobile phone brands including Xiaomi and OPPO showing off their own under-screen camera technology.
The under-screen camera can avoid holes in the screen, which not only makes the screen look more complete but also makes watching videos and playing games no longer affected by the front lens.
However, due to the technology at that time, the under-screen camera was still in the demonstration stage and could not be mass-produced.
After a year, the under-screen camera technology has matured, and we may see more phones with an under-screen camera on the market in the second half of 2020.
Xiaomi unveils third-gen under-screen camera technology, to be mass-produced next year
Pcpop.com got its hands on an engineering version of Xiaomi's phone equipped with an under-screen camera to showcase the current experience of phones with under-screen camera technology.
This engineering version of the phone is based on the Xiaomi Mi 10 Supreme Commemorative Edition and features Xiaomi's third-generation under-screen camera technology. It comes with the under-screen camera technology and the front lens aperture on the body disappears.
Because of the absence of the front perforation, the UI design of future phones with the under-screen camera will be adjusted, and the front camera area can also display content to make fuller use of the area at the top of the screen.
The following photos show what the Xiaomi phone with the under-screen camera looks like.
