Apple unveiled the latest version of macOS "Big Sur" on Monday, the biggest update to macOS ever.
Big Sur includes a new design for the Dock, new UI for apps like Messages, and new UI for apps like Photos and Mail.
Control Center is now available on macOS, allowing you to change the display brightness, enable Deep Mode, Night View, and more.
Design Reinvention
macOS Big Sur offers a clean new design that makes navigation easier and gives users more controls at their fingertips.
The Dock's icons have been carefully designed to be more consistent with icons throughout the ecosystem, while maintaining the personality of the Mac. Buttons and controls are shown when they are needed and hidden when they are not.
The customizable menu bar features a new control center that allows users to quickly access controls from the desktop. The updated Notification Center includes more interactive notifications and a redesigned widget that makes it even easier to interact with the application.
Safari
It's the biggest update to Safari, the world's fastest browser since it was first released in 2003, and Apple says Safari accesses the average website 50 percent faster than Chrome.
Apple also completely redesigned the tabs and gave users a quick preview of the page to make Safari browsing even faster by simply hovering over the tab.
Safari offers even more personalization, with background images and features like Reading List and parts like iCloud Tabs" come from defining a new start page.
With built-in translation, Safari can detect and translate entire web pages with a single click. Users can also further personalize their experience with improved support for extensions.
Privacy is always built into Safari, and new privacy reporting features provide insights into how Safari protects your privacy.
Messages
Messages on the Mac brings new tools to better manage important conversations and share expressive messages.
Users can now pin their favorite conversations to the top of their message list for quick access, and search for conversations that have been fully redesigned to help users find the content they need quickly.
Users can add personality to their messages with balloons, confetti and more. They can also create and customize their Memoji on a Mac and express themselves with Memoji stickers. to match their mood and personality.
The new group messaging feature simplifies interactions with family, friends and colleagues. Users can now set photos or emojis for group conversations that are shared with all members of the group.
Maps
Maps has been completely redesigned for macOS Big Sur, bringing new features for exploring the world. Discover attractions and attraction guides from trusted resources, or create custom restaurants, parks and Resort Guide.
Use the 'Look Around' feature to get a 360-degree view of your destination and see details of major airports and shopping centres.
