Over the weekend, a large number of users claimed that Samsung had a system crash bug due to setting a wallpaper.
There's nothing special about this wallpaper, it's just a natural landscape with thick clouds and darker tones.
Initially, the bug was thought to be "exclusive" to Samsung phones, which it was not.
Judging by some users' tests, Google Pixel, Nokia, OnePlus, Xiaomi, etc. all suffered. The Huawei Mate 20 Pro was tested unaffected.
In fact, the reason for the bug is that this wallpaper uses the RGB color gamut standard, while Android 10 uses sRGB first.
Adobe RGB has a wider color gamut than sRGB, causing Android 10 to fail the conversion process, which in turn caused a crash.
Pixel users say that since Android 11 supports Adobe RGB, models that have been upgraded are not affected by the bug.
However, for some models it can be painful to resolve, such as the Pixel, rebooting to safe mode can't be recovered, only the factory mode, which results in a total loss of data.
