According to 9to5mac, Apple is working on a new way to "preview" Apps on iOS, which allows users to experience some of the application's functions by scanning QR codes.
According to the report, Apple will use a new API called “Clips” internally in the iOS 14 code. After analysis, it was found that the API allows developers to provide interactive and dynamic services to users without installing the corresponding App content.
At the same time, the API is directly related to the QR Code reader, so users can interact with the App by scanning the QR code.
For example, when the user receives a QR code with a link to a YouTube video but the device does not have an app installed, when using iOS 14 and the Clip API, the user can directly display the relevant content by scanning the QR code On the display interface of the device.
However, developers will need to specify which part of the application is available for download and reading, and the floating card that pops up will display the option to "download the full version of the application from the App Store" or "open the content in the installed application."
The report said that after analyzing the iOS 14 code, it was discovered that Apple is testing OpenTable, Yelp, DoorDash, Sony (PS4 Second Screen application) and YouTube to further optimize the new API.
