OceanBase, a financial-grade distributed database developed by Alipay, was opened to the world through Alibaba Cloud today. Enterprises can obtain the processing power of the Alipay database on the cloud.
According to Alipay, in 2010, in order to meet the high-growth business needs, Alibaba and Alipay began to independently develop the database system OceanBase to replace traditional databases such as Oracle.
In 2014, OceanBase replaced the Oracle database in the Alipay transaction system.
In 2015, OceanBase replaced the Oracle database in the Alipay payment system.
In 2016, OceanBase replaced the Oracle database in Alipay's core accounting system.
Since 2017, OceanBase database has been opened to the outside world, serving financial institutions such as banks and insurance.
During the 11.11 shopping spree in 2019, OceanBase refreshed the database processing peak again, reaching 61 million times per second.
The OceanBase database can implement hundreds of billions of records and hundreds of terabytes of data across rows and tables. It is compatible with Oracle and Mysql, supports one-click rapid migration, and provides complete ecological services on the cloud.
