Earlier this week, it was reported that the iOS 14 code indicates that Apple is making changes to the iPhone's home screen, including a new list view. Now, Twitter user Parker Ortolani (@ParkerOrtolani) has made a partial rendering of iOS 14 based on the past week's news.
Ortolani simulates the appearance of an iOS 14 screen in rendering. A simple segmented control allows users to go from viewing all apps and switching to the most recently used app in alphabetical order, with Spotlight search fields on screen ready to filter the list.

Ortolani also visualizes how folders are displayed in the list and provides options to expand and view the applications in them.
You can see that the home screen page dedicated to apps with unread notifications is very useful. The list view combines an alphabetical list of installed apps with Siri suggestions.
You can see how to recommend the Workout app based on your current location in Ortolani's model and highlight it with a dark background.
In this release, it feels closer to watchOS 'approach-there is a permanent mode switch at the top of the screen. Users can tap the list and grid icons to switch the home screen to the corresponding layout.

Apple hasn't actually changed much of the home screen on iOS in the past. The layout of the application grid has been tested repeatedly and is familiar to users. It has been in use since the original iPhone.
Over the years, Apple has made some minor changes to the home screen, such as adding an application folder in iOS 4 and redesigning the "zero page" Spotlight interface to include Siri suggestions and widgets.

In 2019, iPadOS 13 integrated the widget sidebar with the first home screen. The change expected to debut on iOS 14 is not a redesign, but a supplement to our existing content.
Imagine a way to switch between views (similar to the list view switch on Apple Watch), or just swipe to a new home screen page with a list view.
9to5Mac received iOS 14 internal source code this week and reported on many features in development of Apple, including ambient noise alert, new wallpaper experience, new HomeKit features, including Night Shift for smart lights, new augmented reality Applications and more.
If you want to know how these iOS 14 features are implemented, Ortolani has simulated many of them here, so take a look.
