Wuhan Jinyintan Hospital Pathogen Metagenomics Detection Platform has been launched recently. Through the introduction of Alibaba's DAMO Academy medical AI technology, it can simultaneously complete the whole genome sequence detection of new coronavirus and more than 16,800 pathogenic microorganisms.
This can quickly find the pathogen for secondary and concurrent infections caused by the new type of coronavirus pneumonia, so as to achieve accurate diagnosis, improve treatment efficiency, reduce mortality, and achieve an accuracy rate of more than 99%.
Studies have shown that about 20% of people infected with the new coronavirus have a tendency to worsen. Over time, these critically ill patients face the risk of co-infection caused by multiple pathogenic microorganisms.
If the cause of the infection cannot be found, the prognosis will be worse, and the patient may even face death threats.
Wuhan Jinyintan Hospital's on-line gene detection platform can analyze and compare the entire genome sequence of more than 16,800 pathogenic microorganisms, thereby quickly finding the pathogen for secondary and concurrent infections caused by the new coronavirus.
During sequence comparison, DAMO algorithm experts optimized the algorithm model in depth, and the final recognition accuracy rate was over 99%.
DAMO algorithm expert Dr. Gu Fei introduced that DAMO is currently developing the next stage of the AI algorithm. This algorithm will accurately screen out key pathogenic pathogens from more than 16,800 pathogens based on "identifying" the pathogen.
In the future, this technology can be widely used in the diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases such as influenza.
