Samsung has just released the latest flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S20, which uses the best OLED screen technology currently available. Netease Tech cited screen scientists who have undergone various professional tests.
The scientists said that before that, the iPhone 11 Pro had the best OLED screen.
Back a few months ago, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10's screen technology was the best in mobile phones, and it was even better than the Galaxy S10 series. Of course, the screen of the Galaxy S10 is also better than the previous iPhone XS.
Samsung is the world's company capable of producing the best OLED screens, including iPhone OLED panels, which are made to meet Apple's needs. Most of Apple's screens are commissioned by Samsung, but not all, because LG is also its supplier, and there are other suppliers who want to participate.
But because Samsung produces the best OLED screens for mobile phones and holds the largest market share, especially in the lucrative iPhone business. It's safe to say that the iPhone 12's screen will be at least as good as the Galaxy S20 model.
Samsung Display has just announced that it has optimized 5G for OLED screens, which is a good marketing gimmick for the company, using 5G as a selling point for OLED screens.
Of course, the screen has nothing to do with 5G coverage, reception, or data speed, but it does have a feature that will benefit 5G phones and all other devices.
US security certification agency Underwriters Laboratories certification shows that this screen reduces power consumption by 15%. According to Samsung Display, the average power of 5G OLED screens has dropped from 1.5W to 1.3W.
This is good news for 5G devices, as providing 5G connectivity requires more power.
Samsung said that based on the test by the Swiss Notary Agency Societe Generale de Surveillance, Samsung's new OLED screen should also have a health advantage over previous products. It emits 6.5% blue light, which is lower than 7.5% blue light emitted by the panel last year.
Samsung Display did not say which companies will use these OLED panels, and it did not even confirm whether the Galaxy S20 uses a brand-new OLED screen.
But many flagship products launched in 2020 may use this specially designed screen, whether they support 5G or not. Of course, this may also be the choice of Apple iPhone 12.
This is the second week of hardware details about the next iPhone. A few days ago, Samsung announced that it will produce 12 GB and 16 GB models of LPDDR5 memory for mobile phones and tablets.
Although Apple is unlikely to achieve such a huge jump in RAM, the iPhone 12 may use at least 6 GB of RAM.
