This year Apple is expected to release four iPhones: the "cheap phone" iPhone SE 2 in the spring, and three iPhone 12 series in the fall.
A lot of information about this so-called cheap phone has been revealed. Now let's take a look.
Looks similar to iPhone 8
Perhaps the slightly disappointing aspect of the iPhone SE 2 is its design.
This phone does not continue the iPhone X shape, but looks like the iPhone 8, with a touch ID fingerprint sensor and no facial recognition.
Of course, many people actually miss fingerprint recognition and think it is more convenient than Face ID.
The relatively small 4.7-inch body makes it a portable device in these current flagship phones, which is easy to use with one hand. It will also come with a glass back that supports wireless charging.
In fact, these are the same as fingerprint recognition. Although they are all old-fashioned things, some people miss them.
Yesterday, someone made a rendering concept, describing what the iPhone SE 2 will look like when these elements are put together. This video is quite good. If you are interested, you can check it out.
The display is still LCD
The iPhoneSE 2 will use a 4.7-inch screen, which is the size used by many Apple products. The size is moderate, and it is considered a small screen product today.
Compared with before, it is expected to improve some brightness and color accuracy, but it will still be LCD instead of OLED material, resolution will also be 1334x750 pixels, pixel density is 326PPI, the same as iPhone 11.
The legendary 120Hz high refresh rate should not be placed on a cheap phone.
There have been news that the screen border of this phone will be narrower, or that Touch ID fingerprint recognition is integrated with the power button. We don't think it will. Apple has no reason to toss on this phone.
Single camera
The iPhone SE 2 will use the same 12-megapixel main camera as the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro series, but don't think too much about it. It won't have the flagship's two or three lenses.
Apple may give it a good quality main lens, but other aspects are more embarrassing. One is that it does not want it to steal the limelight of the iPhone 11. The second is that the dual lens means that the design and development of this phone must be compared with previous ones. Big changes make it difficult to bring prices down.
Biometric device: Touch ID returns
As mentioned above, Touch ID will be the biometric technology Apple chose for iPhone SE 2. FaceID will not have it. Fingerprint, the previously beloved hardware, will return in 2020.
Another important point is that the iPhone SE 2 will use the same A13 chipset as the iPhone 11 series, that is, it will have the same computing power as the flagship phone.
However, the RAM will be reduced to 3GB (the iPhone 11 series is 4GB), and the single-camera and low-resolution screen will not require as much processor. A13 will mean that this combination will still be one of the fastest mobile phones at present, and Products that can compete with Android flagship phones in 2020.
As for networking, the iPhone SE 2 will not have 5G, and Apple will leave this trick to its flagship in September.
Release date is probably spring
There is no word on when the iPhone SE 2 will be released, but it is widely believed that it will arrive in the first quarter (January to March), which means that it does not have to wait too long.
Although we think that Apple will still hold a small conference in March, there are also many people who believe that the conference will not be offline, and Apple will only quietly update on its official website.
Bloomberg News previously revealed that the iPhone SE 2 will begin mass production in February and be available in March. The price is around US $ 500, but currently affected by the coronavirus, whether Foxconn can start construction on time as normal may be a problem.
