Apple has launched a smart battery case replacement program for the iPhone XS, XS Max and iPhone XR. According to Apple, some smart battery cases may experience charging issues, including the inability to charge the iPhone or the ability to charge the iPhone.
The affected smart battery cases were manufactured between January 2019 and October 2019. Apple says this is not a security issue, and Apple officials or authorized Apple service providers will replace qualified battery cases for users for free.
All iPhone XS, XS Max and XR smart battery cases manufactured between the above dates are replaceable.
Apple said that this plan does not include other iPhone smart battery cases, which means that users of iPhone 11, 11 Pro or 11 Pro Max battery cases are not included in the plan.
Apple said that users affected by the affected smart battery case can go to the local Apple authorized service provider or Apple retail store to make an appointment to replace it.
Smart battery cases will be inspected by staff to verify that they meet program requirements. The affected shells will be handled by Apple in an environmentally friendly manner.
Since Apple launched the smart battery case in early 2019, this product has been experiencing various faults and charging problems, and users have complained about it.
