Xiaomi on Monday announced the Mi CC9 Pro with a 108 MP camera will be launched on November 5, without giving details much detals. But on Tuesday, the company finally gave us a glimpse of what the camera's specifications.
In a blog post on its WeChat account, Xiaomi said the Mi CC9 Pro will have five rear cameras with the telephoto lenses support up to 5X optical zoom, 10X hybrid zoom and 50X digital zoom.
This comes with a cost, with Xiaomi saying the Mi CC9 Pro's camera lens cost five times that of its predecessor.
Starting from the top, the first camera on the Mi CC9 Pro is the telephoto camera, which will be capable of 5x optical zoom, 10x hybrid zoom, and 50x digital zoom.
The second camera is a dedicated 12MP depth sensor for portraits.
The third camera is the primary 108MP camera with an f/1.7 aperture.
The fourth camera is a 20MP ultra-wide angle shooter, while the fifth camera is the dedicated macro camera which will allow you to get as close as 1.5cm to the subject.
This seems to be in line with previous rumors that said the Mi CC9 Pro support 5X optical zoom.
As cnTechPost mentioned previously, there have been reports that Xiaomi has a total of 4 smartphones with the 108MP camera sensor in the making, with the codenames “Tucana”, “Draco”, “Umi” and “Cmi”.
The Geekbench has played host to a Xiaomi device codenamed “Tucana”, triggering speculation the device is expected to launch as the Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro.
According to the Geekbench entry, it will come equipped with the Snapdragon 730G SoC, 6GB RAM, while running Android 9 UI-based MIUI operating system.
As with the cameras, the reports said the CC9 Pro will come fitted with a total of five cameras, stacked up in a vertical manner. It has two dual-LED flashes, with indication that the telephoto camera is capable of up to “5X Optical” Zoom.
Xiaomi unveiled the Mi CC9 series back in June and the Pro version has been in the rumor mill for the past month.
The CC series may sound unfamiliar to many. At the beginning of this year, Xiaomi announced strategic cooperation with Meitu, which is known for its selfie-centric smartphones.
After absorbing Meitu’s smartphone business , Xiaomi cut off some of its favorite smartphone lines and brought a new one called CC. The first models of this series are already out and they have become quite popular.
