ByteDance's Volcano Engine announced on Tuesday the full roll-out of its Seedance 2.0 series API services, allowing enterprise and individual users to leverage the capability to reshape their workflows.
The move comes after US rival OpenAI's announcement last month to shut down its Sora model, an opportunity ByteDance is seizing to accelerate the expansion of its share in the global AI video market.
As a global state-of-the-art (SOTA) model in video generation, Seedance 2.0 supports four input modalities — text, image, audio, and video — and integrates comprehensive multi-modal content reference and editing capabilities, according to Volcano Engine.
Its physical accuracy and realism in complex interactions and motion scenes have been significantly enhanced, making it more suitable for industrial-level creative scenarios such as film production and autonomous driving, the company said.
Following previous copyright conflicts in Hollywood, Volcano Engine has established strict portrait and copyright security standards for Seedance 2.0 to ensure the compliance of AI video creation.
Users can complete facial authorization via the console. The overseas version also prevents infringement by adding visible watermarks and C2PA content credentials, while the platform comes pre-loaded with over 10,000 virtual avatars.
The model's pricing strategy is highly competitive, with pure video generation costing about 1 yuan ($0.1467) per second, transforming the production method of expensive video content like complex special effects.
Film and short drama producers reported an 80% to 90% efficiency boost across the entire workflow from scriptwriting to editing, cutting production costs by 70% to 90% compared to traditional techniques, Volcano Engine said.
The API is currently widely applied across multiple industries, covering the production of stage effects for the Spring Festival Gala, batch generation of advertising and marketing materials, and physical interaction data training in the autonomous driving sector.
Starting today, enterprises and developers can fully access the service, while in overseas markets, BytePlus has simultaneously launched the Seedance 2.0 series model API.
