- Qwen's newly launched table agent allows users to directly generate and edit Excel files through natural language conversations.

Alibaba's Qwen has officially launched a new table agent feature, marking an acceleration in the company's commercialization efforts in the artificial intelligence (AI) sector.
The new tool, dubbed "Table Agent," allows users to directly generate and edit Excel files within natural language chats, according to a Qwen announcement on Tuesday.
Users can submit data requests to Qwen using everyday language, and the system will automatically retrieve information and output a standardized, ready-to-download Excel file within one to two minutes.
The tool supports the comprehension of multi-round conversational contexts, recognizes various file formats such as uploaded images or documents, and generates structured data tables, the announcement said.
Qwen breaks down the complex task of table generation into a complete agent execution chain, conducting secure coding within an independent sandbox environment.
When the system determines that existing information is insufficient, it automatically triggers an online search function to supplement key data, thereby directly delivering professional, usable results complete with formulas and formatting, the company stated.
The roll-out of the new feature follows Alibaba's announcement last week to upgrade Tongyi Lab into the Tongyi large model business unit, signaling the company's move to concentrate its prime resources on the most critical technological battlefield.
Alibaba is seeking to build a core growth engine through its large model-driven businesses, projecting that its annual revenue from cloud and AI commercialization will surpass $100 billion over the next five years.
