China's first test of using Digital RMB to ride driverless buses was completed in Suzhou, eastern Jiangsu Province, marking the first time China's legal digital currency has been used to ride a driverless bus.
The vehicles in the test support payment instruments including Digital RMB, UnionPay, WeChat Pay, Alipay, Adapay, China T-union, and Suzhou Citizen Card, according to xdkb.net.
The combination of smart Internet-connected cars and Digital RMB makes Suzhou the first city in China to conduct this test, the report said.
Responsible for the development of the payment terminal hardware is Suzhou Chengfang Cloud Digital Technology Co, established in Suzhou in September 2020.
The self-driving vehicles involved in the test came from QCraft, which was founded in 2019 as a general-purpose solutions company for smart driving, focusing on scenarios such as urban transit and online mobility.
More Longzhou series smart driving models that QCraft will launch in Suzhou in the future will cover more intelligent transportation scenarios, according to the report.
